I ordered a built-in closet for my living room from NYCmillwork three years ago. It was in a classic/vintage style and it had definitely elevated our home decoration. Three years later it still looks like a brand new…the quality remains excellent. Elisabeth and the other guys were very friendly and hard working and the most important they succeeded to transform my vision to this stylish hand-picked furniture! Good job guys! Thaaaank u!!!
I had a rather different experience from those listed here. I did a gut renovation of an apartment, and the cabinets in the kitchen and around the apartment are from this company. They looked beautiful when installed. however, it is barely 2 years later (not quite), and the cabinets look shabby. The lamination is coming off the ends of the cabinets, there are places where the paint is just cracking and worn off, one hinge just tore out (not the other two on the same door, so I don't think it was from pulling too hard), and the tops of the radiator cabinets is cracking (both where the radiators are and elsewhere). I don't think they should be this run down after less than two years of normal use. In addition, I hired them to install additional cabinets. I recognize they usually work with contractors, and so I was insulated from the organizational issues - but I was astounded by the sheer craziness of some of the problems we had getting it done. They scheduled delivery of cabinets in a room where I had to pull everything out of the room; they showed up with cabinets with no top and told me that the job would be sitting there half-installed for while (no time specified). Apparently, they'd had a fire, which resulted in delays in finishing the top. A fire can be devastating, so the delay wasn't the problem - but they shouldn't have torn the room apart if they didn't know when they could finish it (they never saw anything wrong about that!). Then they didn't show up with the remaining cabinets for a while, installed the wrong sized shelves, left holes in the walls, gave me 8 shelves that didn't fit and none that did, order the wrong fittings for inside the cabinet, failed to respond to emails and calls - and on, and on, and on. I ended up being pretty angry, but paid them all they had charged me.That conflict, though, is probably why they were dubious about coming to help out when the original cabinets started to fall apart - I asked for an estimate of the cost for repair, they told me a daily rate, I asked how many days they thought it would take, they told me to find someone else. Perhaps if we hadn't had so much trouble getting the second round of cabinets installed, they would have cooperated, but as it is, I now have a bunch of trashy looking cabinets in my relatively new apartment. Not happy, and I would not recommend them. If you work through a contractor, you can probably avoid all the ups and downs along the way, but the quality issue is something I would have thought a decent company would deal with. Yes, it is after the warranty period - but a quality company doesn't make cabinets that fall apart in less than two years, and when problems arise, they fix them. They charge quality prices, but their work doesn't live up to the price.
I am so thankful for the patience and attention to detail I was provided by New York Custom! I contacted them because I wanted to have a vanity built just to my liking. I had a very specific idea of how I wanted it to look and I was hoping I could properly convey my vision. The architect was able to perfectly capture my vision and made sure I was completely satisfied with the final drawing. The owner, Elizabeth, is so kind and a pleasure to work with. I absolutely recommend this company! They made this process quick and painless. I would work with them again in the future!
I highly recommend NY Custom Interior. After dealing with a very unprofessional and unaccommodating architect, working with the team here was a refreshing change of pace. My amazing experience started with the owner Elizabeth, who was extremely professional, easygoing, and knowledgeable. I had ideas about what I wanted my walk-closet to look like, but wasn’t 100% sure about what to do. Elizabeth and the architect, Ruben, worked diligently with me to ensure my vision came to life. Ruben was great to work with. He paid an incredible amount of attention to detail, and even came to my home to sketch designs. This made is very easy to envision what the end product would look like. I now have a beautiful, custom made closet that matches my house and style perfectly. Can’t say enough good things about them!
