The best pet store ever!! This is the pet store where I found my best best best friend at 11 years ago a West Highland terrier, and he still acts like a lil puppy. Overall I am just glad that I went here to get my best friend max. 😇😁
In 2001, I Did what many people said NEVER do: I purchased a puppy from a pet store. If you have been in the market or are in the market for a new dog, I am most certain that you have heard this. But I did. I fell in LOVE with a Bernese Mountain Dog from Pets on Lex, and I began our journey. With this breed, I was also independently warned, that they were known as the heartbreaker - with a life expectancy of 5 - 7 years. The marriage of these two ideas was most certainly a bad idea. But I had fallen in love and did it anyway. For 12 incredible years I enjoyed Pandara's company - sharing with her my life, my accomplishments and the birth of my first child - my daughter. Pandara by far outlived her statistics. In fact, I NEVER experienced a problem with her ONCE in those twelve years. It's been over 3 years since she past. One of the most difficult things that I have ever experienced in my life - and not just for me, but for my little girl. Not a day has gone by since Pandara passed, that my daughter hasn't mentioned her, in some capacity. Where I thought I would "never again", I find myself 'once again', considering. In 2001, these types of reviews didn't exist - and I was admitingly surprised to see the negative commentary. I am writing now, b/c this was my (incredible) experience - and people should know. I will return to Pets on Lex - not sure if I will by - but, I will def consider, as should you. Let your own experience(s) determine your truth.
Pets on Lex seems inviting because of, well, the cute puppies (and kittens!). We bought a dog from there a while back and it was mostly a bad experience. The staff there was slow and unhelpful, the puppies are all brought in from puppy mills, and many of the puppies will be advertised as totally healthy but are actually hiding kennel cough/pneumonia (as ours was) from the close quarters, confinement, and lack of exercise. And when the puppies get to be over 4 months old, they're sent away, presumably to a shelter (and who knows, there's a decent chance it's not a no-kill shelter).I strongly recommend you get a cute dog from your local shelter or puppy direct from a breeder instead.
I'm traveling & needed a can of dog food. Hate stores like this, those poor animals. Anyway grabbed my can of food should have checked the date before I left. IT HAD EXPIRED 2 YEARS AGO! SERIOUSLY? Paid $2.99 to put it in the trash. UGH! FYI - ALL pet stores get their dogs from puppy mills. If you get one that's healthy you got lucky.
I bought a puppy french Bulldog last week. They sold me the premium price stating that he was in perfect health and condition. I was given 2 vet Free consults as a incentive to get the dog to later learn that the Vet they recommended is horrible and doesn't give correct diagnostics and does not really care about the animals. I took it to a proper vet to later learn that my dog has had Hernia surgery which was clearly OMITTED when I bought him.He is doing great I just want to let people know what type of pet shop this place is. they will do everything to sell you their dogs to the premium price
