A credit union that doesn't call itself a CU and that's okay. Fancy building and a very large institution but I think it's still better than the typical national or regional bank. Sometimes they seem very out of touch until you meet someone in person. Everyone I've met, from reception, teller, to rep has been very nice. It's ideal to not have to go in but when you do it's pretty nice inside. Deposits made easy at the old fashioned chute outside or the cool ATMs.
I've had nothing but problems this past few weeks with this bank. First I lost 10 dollars in the atm while depositing money but I couldn't do anything about it because I didn't print the receipt. I also signed up for bill pay, but my bill had no tracking information and it has yet to arrive to its' intended location after it's scheduled delivery date. The tellers are rude and I wouldn't bank here if it wasn't such a hassle to change location but I will move to another bank as soon as there is a chance to switch banks.
This is a good personal and family oriented bank believe it or not. This was one of the first credit unions run by the customers. I recommend this bank because after years of being a customer I have never had an issue that could not be resolved by a friendly conversation.
I recently financed a home purchase through St. Mary's. The experience itself was less than adequate with poor communication at every step. I had a very simple loan and plenty of time to close. The loan rate was lowered by a point if the funds were transferred from a St. Mary's account (which is also the rate they initially tell you and process the paperwork with). Not only did I see fees hitting the accounts before direct deposits even had a chance to go through, but their online banking interface is ancient. I have been banking online with Bank of America for over 10 years and I am pretty confidant that their system was more advanced than St. Mary's is today. Less money towards the fancy building and more towards functional systems.
